J. Bruce Jones is a musician, author, graphic designer, software publisher, video producer and the creator of Essential Chord Charts for Guitar, Mandolin, Ukulele and Banjo and the Left Hand Chords books. Containing guitar, mandolin, ukulele and banjo chord fingering and music charts for playing rock, folk, country and blues music. I started learning guitar about 10 years ago and my music and chord charts came about from my search for clear basic music information to help me learn when I started playing the guitar. Over the years I found lots of the charts on the web and in books but most of them were too complicated or incomplete or poorly presented. So I started laying out my own charts and then started sharing them with my friends. My original Essential Chords book has evolved into a line of music books and posters, including blank sheet music books, guitar, mandolin and ukulele chord posters, gift apparel and music instruction videos. Perfect design. Looked for a book like this. Other books have various elements like tab or chord boxes or notation or lyric lines...but not all elements, as this one does.The sizes of the notation and tab lines are perfect, too -- not too big and not too small.I don't write music. Going to use it just to work out songs by ear. I don't usually use tab, but just get the chords and then work it out. But the tabs will be useful for when I work out specific fingerings, and being able to integrate all elements -- notation, tab, and chords -- should help me enormously.This book is exactly what I needed.
I am taking guitar lessons and my instructor suggested I get some blank manuscript pages. This is a very good book. Not only are there places to write a song along with the title the composer in the date but there are extras in the back showing chord patterns and several pages of chord boxes & various music scales. I'm including photos since it's hard to find photos of the insides of these books before you buy.
I wanted a book showing the tabs, the music staff and a diagram of the strings. This one has it all. A lot of latitude to work with as well as adding any notation. I'm also now looking into another showing just the staff and tabs. I want to see if it will simplify or make it more difficult to write or read.
Great value, 100 pages with the notation and the tab parts aligned one on top of the other and the chord boxes as well. Very effective for those that are learning songs, writing songs, just wanting to jot things down for later, or learning music/songs from DVD's that have no tab or music sheets included. It is a sturdy book, good binding, I've written quite a bit in it already and have had the front page bent all the way back and have had no loose sheets.
Bought as a gift, and so tht i couldnsee it in oerson before i bought one for myself!And minutes after looking at tge clean organized layout, i added one more to my cart.
Nice blank sheets to record you guitar songs. It also has lots of reference pages like notes on the guitar fret, chord reference in the back. It is a rather large scale and I would of liked the lines and chord boxes smaller.
This book is totally awesome as other reviewers have stated. Some of the diagrams are even better than regular music theory based books. Well worth the price.
No more wasting time improvising sheets.
